Sheboygan County Survey Respondents Name Housing, Care Priorities
Sheboygan County, WI — A 2026 community input survey found that participants most often selected affordable housing, health care and mental health services among the community needs presented. Affordable child care also ranked among their priorities. The report cautions that these responses are not a representative poll of all Sheboygan County residents.
The electronic survey was completed by 1,541 people who live and/or work in Sheboygan County between mid-January and April 2026. Asked to choose three important community needs, respondents selected access to affordable housing 713 times (46%), affordable health care 686 times (45%), affordable mental health services 632 times (41%), and affordable child care or day care 390 times (25%).
What the responses can—and cannot—show
The percentages describe how survey participants answered. They do not show what share of all county residents experience housing unaffordability, unmet health-care needs or difficulty finding child care, and they do not establish service outcomes.
The report says residents were not equally likely to participate and that the results were not adjusted or weighted to represent the county population. Some subgroups were too small for statistical analysis. Because identifying information was not collected, repeat submissions may also have been possible. The report further notes that percentages may not total 100% because of rounding, recoding and response-category distributions.
These limits matter when interpreting the findings: they offer a view of what respondents considered important, but cannot establish how broadly those views represent the county.
One part of a wider assessment
The community input survey is one component of the 2026 Community Health Needs Assessment. The broader assessment also draws on interviews, focus groups and secondary data. Those methods provide separate information and should not be blended with the survey’s percentages.
