Sheboygan County Gas & Diesel Watch for Friday, May 22: Regular Slips, Diesel Near $5.90
Sheboygan drivers are getting a small break on regular gas in AAA’s Friday, May 22 check, while diesel remains the tighter cost to watch for local work vehicles and delivery routes.
Regular gas is now $4.474 a gallon in the Sheboygan metro, down 2.9 cents from yesterday and 10.6 cents from the last Sheboygan Life check on May 17. Diesel is $5.874, down 5.0 cents since May 17 even though it edged up 3.3 cents from yesterday.
What changed at the pump
Regular gas is still expensive for everyday commuting, but it is now slightly below the U.S. average of $4.552 and above Wisconsin’s $4.437 average. For school runs, errands, and weekend drives, that difference can still add up over several fill-ups.
Diesel stays near $5.90
Diesel is still the bigger local strain. Sheboygan’s $5.874 sits above both Wisconsin’s $5.751 average and the U.S. average of $5.647. That matters for contractors, delivery drivers, farmers, restaurants, and service businesses that burn through fuel fast.
It is also far above the year-ago diesel average, which shows how much more expensive work fuel remains than it was last spring.
What local drivers should watch this weekend
The practical takeaway is simple: regular gas eased again, but diesel is still hovering close to the $5.90 mark. That matters for anyone hauling tools, making repeated stops, or heading out with a truck or trailer.
AAA’s broader price trend still shows a market that can move a few cents either way in a hurry, so local drivers may want to check prices before filling up.
