Sheboygan Theatre Company Launches Community Workshop Series with Support from Wisconsin Arts Board
The Sheboygan Theatre Company (STC), a cornerstone of local performing arts since 1934, has been awarded a Creative Communities Grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board. This grant will fund a new educational workshop series beginning with a kickoff week in July 2025 and continuing with monthly sessions throughout STC’s 92nd season.
Executive Director Tricia Roberts expressed both pride and excitement: “It is an honor to receive this recognition and support from the Wisconsin Arts Board. This grant allows us to reignite our educational mission and provide even more opportunities for our community to engage with the arts.”
The new series will offer immersive, hands-on experiences that celebrate both classic and modern theater techniques. In addition to performance training, participants can expect sessions on behind-the-scenes theater crafts, all designed to nurture creativity, mindfulness, and confidence in participants of all ages and experience levels.
The Creative Communities Grant program backs initiatives that further arts education, traditional and folk arts, and the development of local arts across Wisconsin. It aims to promote cultural understanding and economic vibrancy through direct support of accessible, community-focused arts programming.
STC’s proposal focused on inclusivity—eliminating barriers to participation and making arts education approachable for everyone in Sheboygan. “This grant represents more than just funding—it’s an investment in our community’s creative future,” Roberts said. “We’re committed to using these resources to ensure everyone has the chance to explore their creative potential through theater.”
The workshop series will begin with an intensive weeklong kickoff in July 2025, followed by one full-day workshop per month for the rest of the season. Official class titles, instructor names, and registration information will be announced soon.
