Sheboygan County Co-Responder Program Highlighted During National Awareness Week

The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office recognized local co-responder and crisis-response partners on September 15 during National Co-Responder and Crisis Responder Week, which runs September 13-19, 2026.
Sheboygan County’s mobile crisis co-responder model pairs a behavioral-health clinician with a law-enforcement officer when a coordinated on-site response may be appropriate for a mental-health or substance-use crisis. The team can conduct a behavioral-health assessment, support de-escalation and connect a person with continuing services.
Program expanded countywide in January
County records say the program began in the City of Sheboygan in 2024 and expanded countywide beginning in January 2026. The countywide program is housed at the Sheboygan Falls Police Department.
Core partners include the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, Sheboygan County Health and Human Services, the Sheboygan Falls Police Department and Elevate. Official county records also identify work with agencies in Kohler, Cascade, Plymouth, Sheboygan Falls and Sheboygan. Cascade refers to the Sheboygan County, Wisconsin community.
A Sheboygan County State of the County report documents 487 completed assessments, including 113 self-referrals. Those are county-reported totals in the report and should not be read as a 2026-only count.
