October 23 pairs spooky stories with a film
The opening night also brings Mead Public Library’s Scary Stories Night to Paradigm. The library lists doors at 5:30 p.m. for that event, followed by readings from 6–6:30 p.m. Emcee Blaine Huber and writers from the library’s story contest will read their work, and costumes are welcome.
The library’s earlier doors apply to the story event; the Rebel Reels film follows at 7 p.m. The library describes the film tickets as optional for people attending the story program.
Rebel Reels also says the Wisconsin Film Exchange, a group of area independent filmmakers, will hold its monthly meeting at Paradigm at 6 p.m. that evening.
Watching and talking about movies together
Founded by Matt and Erin Kaczkowski, Rebel Reels Film Society creates opportunities to watch films with other people and discuss them as works of art. The group welcomes casual moviegoers as well as people with a deeper interest in cinema.
“Films are supposed to be experienced with other people,” co-founder and independent filmmaker Matt Kaczkowski said in the season announcement. The society’s screenings pair that shared experience with opportunities to learn about and discuss filmmaking.
Tickets and upcoming dates
Tickets for the October 23 screening of Night of the Living Dead are listed at $10 on Rebel Reels’ ticket page. Visit the Rebel Reels website for updates on the February and April dates and the audience-choice film.
