Lakeland University Announces Five-Year, $3 Million Student-Success Grant
Lakeland University announced Sept. 24 that it received a five-year, $3 million Title III grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The university says the funding will support student-success and workforce-readiness activities at its campus in the Town of Herman, Sheboygan County.
The plans span academic advising, career preparation and financial education. For students and regional employers, the announcement points to a mix of support and workplace-learning opportunities, though Lakeland has not provided a launch schedule or details about how students can access each activity.
What Lakeland says the grant will support
According to the university’s announcement, planned activities include enhanced advising and peer mentoring, career discovery, employer mentoring and networking, expanded Cooperative Education pathways, and financial-literacy education with individualized counseling.
Lakeland describes Cooperative Education, or Co-Op, as combining classroom learning with structured workplace experiences. The announcement does not say that every student or employer will participate, or provide specific participation numbers.
The university says the grant is intended to strengthen student success and workforce readiness. Those are planned uses of the funding—not measured results or guaranteed outcomes. The announcement does not report changes in persistence, degree completion, career readiness or student finances.
Campus is in the Town of Herman
Lakeland’s main campus is in the Town of Herman in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. The university lists Plymouth as its mailing address; that mailing address does not mean the campus is within the City of Plymouth.
For students and families, the next useful details to watch for are when the activities begin and how students can connect with advising, mentoring, career and financial-counseling services. Lakeland’s announcement did not specify those details.
