Dangerous waves and currents expected through Tuesday
The statement remains in effect through 7 p.m. CDT Tuesday, September 22. NWS expects life-threatening waves of 5 to 11 feet in the affected area, along with dangerous structural and longshore currents caused by high waves and onshore winds. Rip currents are also possible.
Conditions can vary by beach and shoreline location, but high waves and strong currents can create hazardous swimming conditions even when the water appears calm from shore.
