Learn Nuno Felting at Sheboygan Visual Artists
Sheboygan Visual Artists will offer a hands-on Nuno Felting Scarf Workshop on Saturday, August 15, giving participants the opportunity to learn the fiber-art technique while creating a one-of-a-kind wearable scarf.
The workshop runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the SVA Gallery, 534 South Pier Drive in Sheboygan. SVA lists the class as suitable for both beginners and experienced fiber artists.
Learn a “No Rolling” Nuno Felting Technique
Participants will learn a distinctive “no rolling” nuno felting technique that combines silk and soft merino wool. The process bonds wool fibers with fabric to produce a lightweight textile with texture, color and movement.
The class will cover the process from beginning to end, including planning the scarf’s design, laying out the silk and wool, felting the materials and applying finishing techniques.
Each participant will leave with a completed handmade scarf as well as the basic skills needed to continue experimenting with nuno felting on future projects.
