NWS Milwaukee/Sullivan’s Hazardous Weather Outlook (issued Thu., July 30 at 12:50 PM CDT) includes nearshore Lake Michigan wording for the waters from Sheboygan to Port Washington: there are chances for thunderstorms at times Friday afternoon through Saturday, and winds and waves may approach Small Craft Advisory (SCA) levels at times this weekend. The outlook also says no hazardous weather is expected Thursday night, July 30.

What “SCA levels” means (and what it doesn’t)

The NWS Marine Forecasts FAQ explains that a Small Craft Advisory (SCA) is an advisory issued for coastal/Great Lakes areas covered by nearshore marine products, and that the thresholds are specific to geographic areas. The Hazardous Weather Outlook wording here is a heads-up that conditions could tighten—it does not say an SCA is currently in effect for your exact launch or shoreline window.
