Mead Public Library geology talk set for Saturday, July 25
Sheboygan, WI July 24, 2026
Mead Public Library is bringing hands-on science learning to the weekend with a community geology lecture on Saturday, July 25, running 1:00–2:30 p.m.
The event, “Geology: Exploring Minerals, Fossils, and Gemstones,” will be held in the library’s Rocca Meeting Room (710 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan). The program is led by Wisconsin geologist Jason Rehorst.
What the talk covers
According to Mead Public Library’s event details, the lecture is designed for everyone and will explore the basics of geology—plus how hobby rock collecting connects to paleontology.
Participants can expect the program to cover:
- What geology is, and how paleontology, minerals, and fossils fit together
- How to build and maintain a rock collection
- Geological history of Wisconsin and what fossils can be found in the state
Family-friendly weekend add-on at Mead
Mead also notes that a traveling fossils and minerals display is on view on the library’s first floor throughout the month of July. If you’re planning a Saturday library visit with kids or looking for a low-pressure learning stop, this lecture pairs well with that exhibit.
