Town of Plymouth Roundup: County Road Closures, School Events, Spring Construction
Road construction, school recognition events, and seasonal public safety efforts are shaping the week for Town of Plymouth residents as May begins.
County Road Construction Expands
Sheboygan County’s 2026 construction season is underway, with several projects affecting routes commonly used by Town of Plymouth drivers.
County Road J, from State Highway 57 to State Highway 67, is fully closed as of April 20 and is expected to remain closed through November. Additional work is occurring on County Roads OO, Q, MM, Y, U, KK, PP, P, and at the County Road C and TT roundabout.
Drivers should follow posted detours and allow extra travel time, especially for farm traffic, school routes, and commutes toward Plymouth and Sheboygan.
Lane Closures Impact Southbound Commuters
In the City of Sheboygan, road work began April 15 on South Business Drive between Union Avenue and Georgia Avenue. One lane in each direction is closed, with no formal detour posted.
Work includes storm sewer improvements, curb and gutter repairs, concrete panel replacements, and pavement marking. The project is expected to continue into June, weather permitting.
Town of Plymouth residents who commute toward Sheboygan for work or appointments should anticipate slower traffic in that corridor.
Plymouth High School Recognition Event May 6
Plymouth High School will host its Class of 2026 Student Recognition event on Wednesday, May 6 at 9:30 a.m. in the PHS Auditorium.
Families in the Town of Plymouth with high school students may want to check school communications for attendance details and scheduling impacts. The event highlights academic and extracurricular achievements as the school year enters its final stretch.
Community Education Spring Sessions Begin May 5
Plymouth School District Community Education and Recreation spring programming continues with sessions running May 5–19, including evening offerings along the Mullet River.
Senior rates are available for district residents age 62 and older. Residents interested in late spring activities or enrichment classes can contact Community Ed & Rec directly for registration details.
Drug Take Back Day Draws County Participation
Sheboygan County’s Prescription Drug Take Back Day was held April 25, including a Plymouth drop-off location at Generations on Douglas Drive.
The event provided residents a safe way to dispose of unused or expired medications. County officials continue to encourage proper medication disposal to prevent misuse and protect local water systems.
Looking Ahead
With frost giving way to milder temperatures this week, more seasonal road work and outdoor events are expected across the county. Residents are encouraged to monitor municipal and county websites for updated closures, agendas, and event notices as spring projects accelerate.
