Lakeshore College Earns Military Friendly Silver School Recognition for 2026-27
CLEVELAND, WI 4-8-2026 — Lakeshore College has again been recognized for its support of veterans, service members, and military families, earning the 2026-27 Military Friendly Schools designation as a Silver Level School. The college also received the Military Friendly Spouse School designation, marking the 17th consecutive year Lakeshore has received Military Friendly recognition.
The designation was awarded by Viqtory, a national organization that connects the military community with education, business, and civilian employment opportunities. According to the college, schools receiving the designation are evaluated using public data along with responses to a proprietary survey. Final ratings are based on factors including student recruitment, retention, academic progress, graduation rates, career placement, and support services for veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses.
Lakeshore College says it works with area resources including County Veterans Services, the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Federal Veterans Administration to help veterans, spouses, and dependents access support and benefits that can improve their educational success.
“Lakeshore College is committed to helping military students make a smooth transition into college life and the civilian workforce. This recognition reflects our continued dedication to supporting veterans and their families,” said President Dr. Paul Carlsen.
The college also highlighted several forms of assistance available to eligible military-connected students. These include tuition and material fee waivers, housing allowances, and additional stipends through the Wisconsin GI Bill. Lakeshore also processes state-level Retraining Grant Applications for veterans who are dislocated workers, National Guard Tuition Grant Applications, and VetEd Reimbursement Grants. In addition, the college participates in the My Career Advancement Account scholarship program, which provides financial assistance to eligible military spouses pursuing portable careers.
Lakeshore College, formerly Lakeshore Technical College, serves more than 9,000 students annually and operates its main campus in Cleveland along with learning campuses in downtown Manitowoc and Sheboygan. The college says it remains focused on individualized learning and career preparation for students across the region.
More information about Lakeshore College’s military-related benefits is available through the college’s veterans resources page.
