Local government

City Plan Commission meets today (Feb. 24) at 4:00 p.m. The City of Sheboygan City Plan Commission has a posted agenda and packet available online. If an item on the agenda affects your neighborhood (zoning, plats, conditional uses, etc.), this is a good meeting to scan for near-term changes and to understand next steps in the approval process.

Road work & transportation

I-43 reconstruction: major work begins March 2. A Wisconsin DOT project to rehabilitate a 10.4-mile stretch of I-43 (between Wilson/Lima Road and WIS 42) is set to start with early work in early March, followed by longer-term lane impacts through the construction season. Drivers should expect lane reductions and intermittent ramp closures as work progresses, with completion projected for late fall.

City services

Residential Recycling Center closure (Feb. 25). The City of Sheboygan Department of Public Works says the Residential Recycling Center at 2026 New Jersey Avenue will be closed Wednesday, February 25, while branch grinding work is completed. DPW also published a schedule for Feb. 23–28 that includes open hours on Feb. 24 and Feb. 26–27, and closure again on Feb. 28.

Schools

Sheboygan Area School District Board of Education meeting tonight. SASD lists a Regular Meeting for Feb. 24 from 6:00–7:00 p.m. at 3330 Stahl Road. Residents who follow district policy, curriculum, staffing, and budget items may want to check the district calendar and related meeting materials posted through SASD channels.

Community events

Local library programming today. The Sheboygan Area School District’s SEA Library lists multiple kids’ programs on Feb. 24, including Mini Movers and a Little Groove Music Class in the morning, plus LEGO Club in the afternoon. These are family-friendly options for an indoor break during the workweek.
