Local government & public meetings (countywide, Kohler-relevant)
Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meets Feb. 27
Sheboygan County’s LEPC is scheduled to meet Friday, Feb. 27 at 8:00 a.m. at the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department (with a virtual option listed on the posted notice). The agenda includes updates from the HazMat team and public health, plus discussion of hazard mitigation planning and hazard vulnerability analysis.
For Kohler residents, one of the most directly relevant items is the committee’s planned review/approval of revised emergency off-site plans for facilities in (or tied closely to) the Village of Kohler, including Kohler Company (444 Highland Drive, Kohler) and Rehlko Power Systems (220 Twin Oaks Road, Kohler). If you have questions about emergency planning in your area, this is a good meeting to follow.
Transportation Coordinating Committee met Feb. 19
The Transportation Coordinating Committee met Thursday, Feb. 19 at the Aging & Disability Resource Center in Sheboygan Falls. The posted agenda focused on elderly-disabled transportation programming, volunteer driver programming, and related reporting and coordination topics.
A key Kohler tie-in: the agenda’s definitions section describes Shoreline Metro’s service area as including Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, and Kohler, plus paratransit (Metro Connection). Residents who rely on public transit or paratransit may want to review the agenda and watch for follow-ups tied to service quality and program changes.
Schools
Kohler School District notes a ‘No School-Prof Dev Day’ for Friday, Feb. 20. Families should plan for schedule changes and confirm any childcare needs.
Community events (Kohler)
Kohler’s community calendar lists the Frozen Feet 5K and 10K on Feb. 21. The Kohler events listing also includes a Feb. 21–22 Lyle Lovett concert package and other upcoming winter programming. If you’re attending outdoor events, keep an eye on changing late-February conditions and dress for wind and colder temps.
