1901: U.S. President William McKinley died after being shot on September 6 by anarchist Leon Czolgosz. Vice President Theodore Roosevelt was sworn in as the 26th President of the United States the same day.
1975: Pope Paul VI declared Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton the first U.S.-born saint.
1982: Princess Grace of Monaco, American film actress Grace Kelly was killed when her car plunged off a mountain road by the Cote D’Azur.
1998: Microsoft has become the biggest company in the world after just 23 years, after being valued at $261billion on the New York stock exchange finally beating General Electric in valuation.
2015: 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed was arrested at his high school in Irving, Texas, for bringing a homemade clock to school. The incident sparked debates about racial profiling and Islamophobia.
2019: Drones were used to attack oil processing facilities at Abqaiq (Arabic: بقيق, romanized: Buqaiq) and Khurais (خريص) in eastern Saudi Arabia. The facilities were operated by Saudi Aramco, the country’s state-owned oil company.
