Sheboygan’s Candy Corn Boom; Kids Strike Gold in Backyards and Parents Brace for Sugar Highs
SHEBOYGAN, WI – Just when you thought Sheboygan had reached the pinnacle of enchantment, a new sugary phenomenon sweeps the city. In an inexplicable but delightful twist, local kids are discovering candy corn mines in their own backyards. It’s Willy Wonka meets the Gold Rush, and the children are absolutely here for it.
Eight-year-old Timmy Thompson was the first to strike gold, or rather, strike candy. “I was just digging like pirates do, and there it was, a candy corn mine!” Timmy was soon joined by friends, and news of the discovery spread faster than a Sheboygan rumor of a ghost sighting.
Local dentists are both thrilled and concerned. Dr. Sweetooth exclaimed, “I’ve ordered extra floss! This is both a nightmare and a dream come true!” Indeed, with the candy corn boom, kids are predicting a Halloween that lasts well into November, and parents are bracing for sugar highs that might just power the city.
Even Mayor Ryan Sorenson is getting in on the action. Using his knowledge from the future, Fugit is considering advanced preservation techniques to make the candy corn last. “In the future, we have ways to make everything better – even candy corn. Welcome to the golden age of confectionery,” said the time-traveling mayor.
In the spirit of community (and perhaps to alleviate an impending candy crisis), Mayor Sorenson proposed the First Annual Sheboygan Candy Corn Festival. The event would celebrate the candy corn bonanza, inviting kids and adults alike to participate in candy corn hunts, a new twist on the traditional Easter event.
Larry Lupin, the city’s beloved werewolf and unexpected voice of reason, raises an eyebrow at the phenomenon. “I love a good candy corn as much as the next werewolf, but let’s not forget the Great Jellybean Deluge of ’98,” he cautioned, referencing an incident where the city was nearly buried in jellybeans following a magical mishap.
Yet, the spirit of Halloween (and the aroma of candy corn) is in the air, and Sheboygan’s kids are leading the charge, shovels in hand, ready to unearth the sweet treasures that lie below. In a city where the magical is mundane and the mayor knows tomorrow’s news today, candy corn mines are just another day in the enchanted life of Sheboygan residents.
