City of Sheboygan Ends Winter Parking Rules Ahead of Schedule

The City of Sheboygan has officially lifted its winter parking restrictions ahead of schedule. Originally set to end on March 31, these restrictions were terminated on March 17 due to favorable weather conditions and reduced snowfall. This early lift provides residents with increased parking flexibility and reflects the city’s responsiveness to actual weather patterns.
During the 2024-2025 winter season, Sheboygan had implemented updated parking regulations to enhance snow removal efficiency and public safety. The winter parking period was shortened to span from December 1 to March 31, a reduction of one month compared to previous years. Alternate side parking was enforced between 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM, requiring vehicles to park on the side of the street corresponding to the day’s date—odd-numbered addresses on odd dates and even-numbered addresses on even dates. Additionally, the city broadened its criteria for declaring snow emergencies, allowing for such declarations under various winter weather conditions beyond just heavy snowstorms. During a snow emergency, parking was prohibited on designated snow emergency routes, boulevards, cul-de-sacs, and dead-end streets. On non-snow emergency routes, all-day alternate side parking rules applied, with residents encouraged to move their vehicles to the plowed side of the street before midnight after initial plowing. Violations during snow emergencies could result in a $50 parking ticket and potential towing, emphasizing the importance of compliance to ensure clear and safe streets.
