Kohler, Weekly News Brief (Sheboygan County Focus)
Schools: Spring Break and Quarter Change Ahead
Kohler Public Schools are approaching the end of the third quarter on March 20. Spring Break is scheduled for March 23 through March 27, with classes resuming March 30 and the fourth quarter beginning the same day. Families should plan ahead for childcare, travel, and activity schedules as the district transitions into its final academic stretch before summer.
The district calendar also notes a no-school holiday on April 3. Parents and students can review the full 2025-26 academic calendar on the Kohler Public Schools website.
I-43 Resurfacing Project Underway
A major Interstate 43 resurfacing and structure rehabilitation project began March 2 in Sheboygan County. The $21 million state investment covers approximately 10 miles of I-43 starting at Wilson/Lima Road and continuing north. While Kohler is not directly on I-43, many residents rely on the corridor for commuting to Sheboygan, Manitowoc, and Milwaukee.
Drivers should expect work zones, potential lane restrictions, and changing traffic patterns throughout the construction season. Officials encourage motorists to slow down in work areas and allow extra travel time.
I-41 Bridge Closures Begin March 9
Separate construction impacts are also coming to I-41 beginning Monday, March 9. The bridges over I-41 at Buchanan Street and French Road will close as part of an ongoing regional improvement project. French Road is scheduled to remain closed through late summer 2026.
For Kohler residents traveling west toward Plymouth or connecting to I-41 for regional routes, detours and adjusted travel plans may be necessary. Overnight lane reductions on northbound and southbound I-41 are also expected in active work zones.
What This Means for Kohler Residents
With multiple state highway projects underway in Sheboygan County, drivers should anticipate heavier traffic on alternate routes and allow additional commute time. Spring travel, youth sports transportation, and business deliveries may all be affected as projects ramp up.
As always, residents are encouraged to monitor official transportation updates and school communications for schedule changes or weather-related adjustments.
