NWS Sets Oct. 15 Small-Craft Advisory, Oct. 16 Gale Watch for Sheboygan Waters
Sheboygan, Wisconsin — October 14, 2026
Boaters in Lake Michigan waters from Sheboygan to Port Washington should plan for two periods of potentially hazardous conditions: a Small Craft Advisory from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, October 15, and a Gale Watch from Friday morning through Friday evening, October 16.
The National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan issued the marine message at 1:55 a.m. CDT Wednesday, October 14. It covers nearshore marine zone LMZ643. These alerts apply to Lake Michigan waters, not inland Sheboygan County.
Small Craft Advisory Thursday, October 15
The advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT. The NWS expects waves of 4 to 6 feet in the affected waters.
Gale Watch Friday, October 16
From Friday morning through Friday evening, northwest winds of 25 to 35 knots, gusts up to 45 knots, and waves of 5 to 8 feet are possible. The NWS says strong winds can create hazardous waves that could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
The NWS advises mariners to consider altering plans to avoid possible hazardous conditions. Check current NWS marine alerts before departure because alert details can change.
