Rain and thunderstorms could arrive Friday night
The NWS Sheboygan County forecast, updated Wednesday, September 16, calls for rain showers and a chance of thunderstorms Friday night. Locally heavy rainfall could develop after midnight, with precipitation chances near 100 percent.
The NWS Milwaukee/Sullivan Hazardous Weather Outlook, issued at 6:35 a.m. CDT Wednesday, September 16, said showers and thunderstorms from Friday night through Saturday could produce locally heavy rainfall. Sheboygan County is included in the outlook area.
Saturday plans may need a wet-weather backup
Saturday, September 19, is expected to bring morning rain showers and thunderstorms, followed by likely rain showers in the afternoon. The NWS forecast lists a 90 percent chance of precipitation and a high near 70 degrees.
Residents, families, commuters and event organizers should plan for wet conditions, allow extra travel time if downpours develop, and review outdoor or Saturday morning plans before heading out. Organizers may want to prepare rain contingencies and continue checking updated forecasts as the weekend approaches.
No flood watch or flood warning was identified in the reviewed NWS sources as of the Wednesday morning update. The possibility of locally heavy rain does not mean flooding is occurring or guaranteed, but drainage-sensitive areas could require closer attention if rainfall becomes concentrated.
Additional NWS updates before Friday and Saturday will provide the clearest information on rainfall timing, thunderstorm chances and any watches or warnings that may be issued.
