Sheboygan County, WI — Tuesday, July 21, 2026

NWS beach safety update (issued 4:31 PM CDT Tuesday, July 21): A Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect for Sheboygan and Ozaukee Counties through Wednesday morning due to life-threatening waves of 3 to 5 feet and dangerous currents.

  • Waves: Life-threatening waves of 3 to 5 feet.
  • Currents: Dangerous currents; rip currents are possible.
  • Where: Lake Michigan beaches in Sheboygan and Ozaukee Counties.
  • Timing: Through Wednesday morning.

What the NWS says to do

  • Stay out of the water.
  • Stay away from dangerous areas like piers and breakwalls.
  • Also keep clear of river outlets where currents can be stronger.
  • Structural and longshore currents are expected.

The NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook also says high swim risk continues until 1 PM CDT Wednesday.
