Sheboygan County Gas & Diesel Watch: Regular gas eases again, diesel stays above $5.75
Sheboygan, WI — May 29, 2026.
What changed at the pump
AAA’s latest Sheboygan metro fuel-price check shows regular gas at $4.279 a gallon and diesel at $5.756. Regular gas is down 12.7 cents from the last Sheboygan Life check on May 25 and down 19.5 cents from a week ago. Diesel is down 3.5 cents since the last check and 11.8 cents from a week ago.
The easing is welcome, but both fuels are still expensive. Regular gas is 25.8 cents higher than a month ago and 127 cents higher than a year ago. Diesel is 86.2 cents above a month ago and 253.5 cents above a year ago.
Diesel is still the tighter squeeze
Diesel remains above $5.75 locally, and that matters for contractors, delivery drivers, farmers, fleets, restaurants, and other businesses that rack up miles quickly. The drop helps, but it still leaves a lot of fuel-budget pressure in place.
How Sheboygan compares with Wisconsin and the U.S.
Sheboygan’s regular gas price is a little above the Wisconsin average of $4.248, and diesel is also above the state average of $5.584. The U.S. average is $4.391 for regular gas and $5.522 for diesel, so Sheboygan is still paying more than the national average on diesel and just under it on regular gas. AAA’s Wisconsin page is dated May 29, 2026, and EIA’s latest weekly fuel update was released May 27.
What local drivers should watch this weekend
For commuters, school runs, errands, and weekend travel, the direction is encouraging even if the absolute price is still high. Families heading to games, lakefront plans, or other weekend trips may notice a small break at the pump, while businesses that depend on vans and trucks will still need to keep fuel costs in the forecast.
