The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan issued a Beach Hazards Statement at 12:31 p.m. Thursday, May 21, for Sheboygan County’s lakeshore. The alert runs from Friday, May 22 at 4:00 p.m. through Saturday, May 23 at 4:00 p.m. and warns of life-threatening 3 to 5 foot waves, dangerous currents, and unsafe swimming conditions.

What to do

If you plan to visit Lake Michigan beaches in Sheboygan County this weekend, stay out of the water and avoid piers, breakwalls, and other exposed shoreline spots. The county forecast also shows east to northeast winds, which fits the hazard window and supports the warning through Saturday afternoon.

If your plans include a lakeshore walk, photo stop, or beach day, consider shifting inland or keeping the visit well away from the waterline until the statement ends Saturday afternoon.
