Sheboygan Gas and Diesel Prices Shift Again in the Latest AAA Check
What changed at the pump
AAA’s May 8, 2026 price check shows Sheboygan metro regular gas at $4.411 a gallon, down 1.4 cents from yesterday and down 3.4 cents from the previous Sheboygan Life fuel-price check on May 4. Diesel is at $5.655, up 1.6 cents from yesterday but still 10.7 cents below that May 4 spike.
That keeps the day-to-day picture split: regular gas got a small breather, while diesel nudged higher again. Even so, both fuels remain much higher than a week ago, a month ago, and a year ago.
Diesel stays the bigger budget strain
Diesel is still the heavier hit for local hauling, farm use, contractor equipment, delivery routes, and commercial fleets. For Sheboygan County businesses that burn fuel every day, even a small move can add up fast over a week of driving, job runs, or deliveries.
Regular drivers are also still paying a lot more than they were in recent history. The Sheboygan metro regular-gas average is up 12.1 cents from last week, 57.9 cents from last month, and 145.8 cents from last year. Diesel is up 42.6 cents from last week, 68.5 cents from last month, and 244.9 cents from last year.
How Sheboygan prices compare with the broader market
Sheboygan metro remains close to the Wisconsin average, though local diesel is still a bit above the statewide figure. The national AAA averages are also in the same high range, which means this is not just a local pain point — it is a broader fuel-cost picture heading into the weekend.
What local drivers should watch
For commuters and school runs, the day-over-day dip in regular gas is welcome, but not enough to erase the bigger jump from earlier this spring. For contractors, delivery drivers, farmers, restaurants, event visitors, and small businesses, diesel remains the more important number to watch because it can affect margins quickly if it stays near this level.
