Public safety

Waldo garage/house fire drew a large mutual-aid response. A garage fire on Mulberry Drive in the Village of Waldo on Thursday morning (Feb. 19) brought in more than a dozen departments. The report lists both the City of Sheboygan Falls Fire Department and the Town of Sheboygan Falls Fire Department among those assisting, and notes the cause remained under investigation. Residents should continue to avoid fire scenes and give responding apparatus room, especially on narrow rural roads.

Local government & county services

Sheboygan County Health & Human Services Committee vacancy. The county is seeking a registered nurse or physician to serve a three-year term on the Health & Human Services Committee. The position is a citizen appointment (conditional on County Board confirmation) and is open to qualified Sheboygan County residents. This matters locally because HHS oversight touches public health, mental health, substance use services, income support, and services for older adults and families that Town of Sheboygan Falls residents may use.

Roads & transportation (winter operations)

WisDOT frozen-road declaration is in effect. WisDOT announced the Frozen Road Period began in Zones 4 and 5 on Feb. 6, 2026. For Town of Sheboygan Falls residents, the biggest day-to-day impact is for commercial and agricultural hauling and winter-maintenance supply chains; WisDOT notes local road authorities determine frozen/thawing status on local and county roads.

DNR marks 75 years of Wisconsin State Natural Areas. The Wisconsin DNR announced the State Natural Areas Program’s 75th anniversary (release dated Feb. 17, 2026). For residents looking for low-cost outdoor time close to home, this is a good reminder that protected natural sites exist across the state, including within Sheboygan County, and winter conditions can make trails and parking lots slick—plan for ice and changing footing.
