STC Offers Classes for Aspiring Stage Actors
Children and adults who dream of being on stage are welcome.
SHEBOYGAN, WI–October 29, 2025–The Sheboygan Theatre Company, the local community theater celebrating its 92nd Season, will host two educational theatre workshops on Saturday, November 15, 2025, designed to help both youth and adult performers deepen their understanding of acting through script and character work. The workshops will take place at 3330 Stahl Road, Sheboygan, WI.
Led by New York–based Director and Coach Lauren Shields, these 90-minute sessions invite participants to explore the creative process behind meaningful performance.
“Lauren brings a wealth of experience and insight from her extensive work in regional and Off-Broadway theatre,” said Tricia Roberts, STC Executive Director. “These workshops are a wonderful opportunity for local actors to grow their skills and connect with an accomplished artist.”
The morning session, Beyond the Lines, is open to youth ages 11–15 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Participants will dive deeper than the words on the page, uncovering the story beneath the lines and exploring the motivations and emotions that bring a character to life. The cost to attend is $20.
The afternoon session, The Art of Scriptwork, is designed for adults aged 16 and older from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. This class focuses on mastering script analysis to unlock the full potential of any role. Attendees will learn to interpret text with depth and clarity while connecting with the playwright’s vision. The cost to attend is $30.
Lauren Shields has directed plays and musicals at regional theatres, Off-Broadway, and academic institutions across the country. She is currently directing Steel Magnolias for STC’s 92nd Season. Her directing credits include Butterflies Are Free (Bluff City Theatre), Top Girls (Stagedoor Manor), The Altruists (ASDS Repertory Season), and Assassins (The Secret Theatre). Shields holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an MFA in Directing from The Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
