This documentary chronicles a 1966 student exchange in Kaukauna and Milwaukee. For 6 days, showings are free
During Black History Month, several area theaters in Wisconsin will host free screenings of the documentary “The Exchange: In White America.” The film tells the story of a 1966 student exchange program between Kaukauna High School and Rufus King High School, where 13 Black and white students traded places for a month, attending each other’s schools, living in each other’s homes, and performing Martin Duberman’s play “In White America” at both campuses. The film is produced and directed by former Milwaukee television reporter Joanne Williams. Eight screenings of the film will be held from Feb. 6 to 11, at various locations in Wisconsin, with Q&A sessions and panel discussions with Joanne Williams. RSVP is available at theexchange50.com.
