UPDATE: Dave’s Who’s Inn Set to Reopen Under Eased Restrictions
SHEBOYGAN, Wisc. — Dave’s Who’s Inn, a beloved Sheboygan bar, is set to reopen with adjusted restrictions following a period of closure. Owner David Repinski had shut down the bar at the end of June in response to stringent conditions attached to its liquor license renewal, including a blanket prohibition on minors and a requirement to use a metal detector on all patrons. These conditions clashed with Repinski’s vision of maintaining a family-friendly community space. The bar, which employs underage workers as pin setters and is a favorite spot for families to enjoy fish dinners, is the only venue in the city required to implement such stringent measures.
After considerable negotiations, the city has agreed to ease some of these restrictions. Minors are once again allowed on the premises, and the use of metal detectors will be limited to weekends from 10:00 PM to close, Friday through Saturday. These adjusted conditions are set to remain in place until the end of the calendar year. If Dave’s Who’s Inn complies with these terms, the restrictions will be lifted when the year-long liquor license expires. This compromise highlights the bar’s historical significance and its role in the community since its establishment in 1974.
Employees and patrons of Dave’s Who’s Inn are optimistic about the reopening, anticipating a return to the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere that has defined the bar for decades. The bar’s reopening is expected to occur shortly, pending final inspections by city officials. The adjusted conditions aim to balance the city’s regulatory concerns with the bar’s unique position as a community hub for families and long-time residents (1330 & 101.5 WHBL) (Mountainstudiohamilton) (Sheboygan Life).
