Democrat JoCasta Zamarripa won Wisconsin’s secretary of state election, defeating Republican Jay Schroeder and Wisconsin Green Party candidate Pete Karas. Wisconsin Public Radio reported the Associated Press call, with unofficial percentages of 49.9%, 46.3% and 3.8%, respectively.
Democrat Yee Leng Xiong defeated Republican incumbent John Leiber for Wisconsin state treasurer. Wisconsin Public Radio reported the Associated Press call and unofficial percentages of 51.1% for Xiong and 48.9% for Leiber.
Democrats won control of both Wisconsin legislative chambers, taking a 53-46 Assembly majority and an 18-15 Senate majority, according to unofficial results reported by Wisconsin Public Radio. The party gained eight Assembly seats and three Senate seats while retaining its own competitive districts.
