Fourth Generation Sartori Takes the Helm as CEO of Artisan Cheese Company
Sartori Cheese, the artisan cheesemaker based in Plymouth, Wisconsin, has announced that Bert Sartori will be taking over as CEO, becoming the fourth generation of the Sartori family to lead the company. Bert previously served as President of the company and has over 17 years of experience in finance, operations, and business development, in addition to being a licensed cheesemaker. Bert’s father, Jim, served as CEO for almost 30 years before passing the role on to Bert.
Bert’s immediate priorities include continuing Sartori Cheese’s partnership with Wisconsin dairy farmers and upholding the craft of cheesemaking. The company, which has over 900 employees and is known for its Parmesan, cheddar, and Asiago cheeses, as well as its award-winning BellaVitano and MontAmore cheddar, ships its products to over 50 countries.
Sartori Cheese was founded by Italian immigrant Paolo Sartori in 1939 and has been passed down through the generations, with each CEO building upon the traditions and successes of the previous one. Paolo Sartori started the company in Plymouth, which already had a long history of cheesemaking and was known as the “Cheese Capital of the World.” By the time Sartori Cheese was founded, the community was home to numerous cheesemakers, but by 2017, Sartori was the only remaining cheesemaker in Plymouth.
Cheese has a long and rich history dating back thousands of years. It is believed to have been discovered accidentally when milk stored in a container made from the stomach of an animal curdled and formed curds and whey. From this humble beginning, cheese has evolved into a beloved and diverse food enjoyed by people all over the world. There are hundreds of different types of cheese, each with its own unique flavor, texture, and appearance.
Cheese is made by coagulating milk and separating the curds from the whey, and the type of cheese produced depends on the type of milk used (cow, goat, sheep, etc.), the culture added to the milk, and the method of production. Cheese can be aged for a short period of time or for many years, and this aging process affects the flavor and texture of the cheese.
Cheese is a popular food in many countries and is consumed in a variety of ways, including as a snack, in sandwiches, on pizzas, in salads, and as a topping for various dishes. It is also a common ingredient in cooking, adding flavor and richness to many dishes.
In addition to its delicious taste, cheese has some potential health benefits. It is a good source of protein, calcium, and other nutrients, and some studies have suggested that consuming cheese may have protective effects against certain diseases such as heart disease and osteoporosis. However, cheese is also high in fat and calories, so it should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
Sartori Cheese is committed to producing high-quality, artisanal cheeses that are made with care and attention to detail. The company is excited to have Bert Sartori at the helm as CEO, and looks forward to continuing the tradition of excellence established by the previous generations of Sartori leaders.
