The Legend of Junior Marvin
In 1977, Junior Marvin faced a pivotal decision: join Stevie Wonder’s band or Bob Marley & The Wailers. With guidance from his family and musician friends, he chose Bob Marley. This choice led to his debut on the acclaimed “Exodus” LP, which Time Magazine declared The Album Of The Century in 1999. Additionally, “One Love” was named Song of the Millennium in 2000. Junior Marvin’s incredible guitar work and musical contributions graced all subsequent Bob Marley & The Wailers albums, and he toured globally with the band until Bob Marley’s passing in 1981.
A Stellar Career
Since then, Junior Marvin has released four CDs with The Wailers, including “ID,” “Majestic Warriors,” “Jah Message,” and “My Friends (Live).” His solo projects, such as “Wailin’ For Love,” “Smokin’,” “To The Big M Music,” and “Lion To Zion Dub Wise,” showcase his continued musical evolution. Recognized as one of Guitar World Magazine’s “Top 100 Guitarists of All Time” for his solo on “Africa Unite” from the “Survival” album, Junior’s influence spans collaborations with Burning Spear, Bunny Wailer, Beres Hammond, Culture, and many more.
