A Pawsome Haven: Muth Family Dog Park Makes Its Grand Debut
In a woof-worthy announcement that’s set to thrill both pets and their parents, the Humane Society of Sheboygan County (HSSC) is pulling out all the stops for the grand opening ceremony of the Muth Family Dog Park. Scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 24th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., this much-anticipated event will happen at 3209 N. 21st St., Sheboygan.
Tucked behind the HSSC’s cutting-edge animal shelter that was established in 2022, the Muth Family Dog Park sprawls over a generous 3.5 acres. This park, nestled amidst wetlands and stately trees, boasts well-lit walking trails, a dog pond, agility equipment, and more, all securely fenced to create an ideal environment for dogs and their owners to simultaneously exercise and appreciate nature’s beauty.
The grand opening event is packed with an array of activities, kicking off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony graced by Sheboygan Mayor Ryan Sorenson and the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce at 11 a.m. Alongside, expect a live broadcast from Country B93 radio station, food trucks serving up tasty delights, local vendors, a 50-50 raffle, and appetizing pup cups. Plus, guests will have an opportunity to interact with the Sheboygan Police Department’s K-9 Unit, and take advantage of onsite pet microchipping.
The Muth Family Dog Park is a testament to community efforts, made possible by a generous land donation from the Muth family and a large-scale fundraising initiative by the HSSC. “The Muth Family Dog Park is a valuable addition to our community that required no taxpayer dollars and provides a safe haven for dogs and their owners to relish nature,” shared HSSC Executive Director Alli Karrels.
The unveiling of the dog park marks another milestone for the HSSC, following the successful launch of the Carol Hollfelder Animal Shelter in May 2022. This 21,000-square-foot facility houses a full-time veterinary clinic, a retail store, and a community room for meetings and educational programs, thanks to a $4 million capital campaign.
