1810: Mexico declared Independence from Spain under Miguel Hidalgo, which President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador led off from the Presidential Palace.

1908: General Motors was founded by William “Billy” Durant.

1920: Wall Street was bombed at 12:01 pm on Thursday, September 16, 1920. The blast killed thirty people immediately, and another ten died later of wounds sustained in the blast. There were 143 seriously injured, and the total number of injured was in the hundreds.

1963: “The Outer Limits” premiered on ABC TV in the U.S.

1963: The Beatles’ “She Loves You” came out as a single in the US.

1976: The Episcopal Church in the U.S. approved the ordination of women as priests and bishops.
