I took my daughter and my best friend out to lunch at Black Pig for their birthdays. When I walked into the place I immediately felt an ambience to it. It felt warm and inviting.
The staff was very knowledgeable about the history of Black Pig and also very informative about the menu. They not only knew the menu but also the ingredients that go into the dish. That is what I call a great waitress or host. I was very impressed. We had ordered our drinks and appetizers and waited with anticipation because we heard this was a very good place to eat. Our drinks took longer than usual but we waited patiently. Heather introduced herself as a journalist for Sheboyganlife.com to the restaurant manager and she immediately apologized for the wait. At that point she comped our drinks and really paid attention to our needs. Our waitress was very attentive to begin with. While we were waiting she had given us informative information about Black Pig and the local vendors they purchase their products from. I was so fascinated that I totally forgot about my food. None the less we received our food and it was every bit as tasty than I had expected and more. I was, however, disappointed in my Bloody Mary.
People have forgotten about flavors behind the drinks that are made. I was raised on old fashioned, do it yourself, use your brain to figure what goes in a drink. Line the rim of the glass with celery salt, add ice, then add a few drops of Tabasco sauce and Worcestershire sauce, add your flavor of vodka ( 2 shots) then add your tomato juice. Top with garnish ( olives, mushrooms, pickle, celery)
My Bloody Mary was very bland and did not taste very good.
My overall experience at Black Pig was a five star. I recommend going to Black Pig.
