Kurtwood Smith ‘returns’ to Wisconsin as Red on ‘That ’90s Show’
Kurtwood Smith returns as Red Forman in the Netflix series “That ’90s Show,” a follow-up to “That ’70s Show.” The new series is set in 1995 and follows Eric and Donna’s daughter, Leia, as she visits her grandparents in Point Place, Wisconsin and makes new friends. Smith says Red has changed since the original series and is now 20 years older and retired. The first season of “That ’90s Show” consists of 10 episodes and features appearances by cast members from the original show, including Topher Grace and Laura Prepon. Smith has been busy since “That ’70s Show” ended, doing voice work in animated series, roles in the Marvel, DC, and “Star Trek” universes, and major roles in TV series such as “The Dropout” and “Patriot.” Smith is happy to be working with Debra Jo Rupp again and appreciates the young cast of “That ’90s Show.”
