Introduction

Uptown Social is a vibrant organization that aims to provide a range of programs and activities for active adults aged 55 and over. Our mission is to promote wellness, learning, socialization, and recreation for successful aging. We partner with a diverse group of individuals and organizations to offer a variety of programs that focus on fitness, recreation, creativity, and travel. Our values include friendliness, respect, inclusivity, enrichment, neighborliness, diversity, and support. Members and guests can choose their level of involvement, from attending just one event per year to volunteering to lead a regular program. Whether you’re looking to stay active, try something new, or simply socialize with others, Uptown Social has something for everyone. So, it is a great place for the seniors to spend their time.

Recreation

Uptown Social offers a variety of recreational activities for seniors, including Pickleball, Dominoes, Ping Pong, Pool, Sheepshead, Canasta, Book Club, Positive Aging, Chess, Scrabble, Poker, Bingo, Bridge, Mah Jongg, and Dining Out. These activities offer a range of social and recreational opportunities for seniors to enjoy with others, including games, discussion groups, and dining experiences. Many of these activities are held on a regular basis, while others may occur less frequently. It is a great way for seniors to stay active, socialize, and have fun.

Fitness

Uptown Social offers a variety of fitness classes for seniors, including Allegro, Yoga, Tai Chi, Body Basics, Gentle Yoga, ABC Fitness, Flex and Stretch, Line Dancing, and Core Class. These classes offer a range of difficulty levels and focus on different aspects of physical fitness, including cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, balance, and more. There are also classes that are suitable for beginners or those who prefer low-impact workouts. In addition to these in-person classes, it is also possible for seniors to do workouts at home. Some options for home workouts for seniors include chair exercises, stretching, and strength training exercises using light weights or resistance bands. It is important for seniors to consult with their healthcare provider before starting a new exercise program and to listen to their body and take breaks as needed during workouts.

Creative

Uptown Social offers a variety of creativity programs for seniors, including Sewing/Quilting, Wood Carving, Ceramics, Yarn Makers, Greeting Cards, Intermediate Painting, Crafting Hands, Life in Writing, and Raging Grannies. These programs offer seniors the opportunity to explore their creative interests and learn new skills. There are programs for a range of skill levels, from beginners to intermediate, and a variety of interests, including sewing, quilting, wood carving, ceramics, knitting, painting, writing, and singing. Cafe’ menu

Uptown Social Cafe serves delicious lunches Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Prices are $8 for members and $11 for non-members. Enjoy a lunch with friends or take a break from the office and join US for lunch!
